The income-based offer uses total household income before deductions. These are the currently published limits.

Homes outside the income-based offer, including natural-gas, propane and above-limit households, may qualify for the standard cold-climate air-source heat pump rebate.

Is the heat pump really free?
Qualifying households can receive an approved air-source or ground-source heat pump upgrade with no upfront cost through the income-based program. Not every household or project qualifies, and Efficiency Manitoba makes the final determination.
Which heating systems qualify for the free offer?
The published offer applies to qualifying homes retrofitting an electric furnace, electric baseboard heaters, or an electric boiler.
What if my home uses natural gas?
A natural-gas-heated home will not fit the electric-heating requirement for the free heat pump offer, but it may qualify for the standard air-source heat pump rebate or other available upgrades.
Can renters qualify?
Renters and landlords may participate. The landlord generally applies, and tenant consent and income documentation may be required.
Do I need backup heat in Manitoba?
Cold-climate air-source heat pumps can provide efficient heating through much of the season, but system design may include supplementary heat for extreme cold. Proper sizing and controls are essential.
Does a heat pump also provide air conditioning?
Yes. An air-source heat pump can provide both heating and cooling.
Who determines whether I qualify?

What happens if I do not meet the income limit?
You may still qualify for a $2,000 centrally ducted or $1,500 ductless air-source heat pump rebate, subject to current requirements.
Can I replace an existing heat pump and receive the standard rebate?
The current standard rebate does not apply when the retrofit replaces an existing heat pump heating system.
Should I purchase equipment before confirming eligibility?
No. Confirm the applicable offer and required process before purchasing equipment or starting work.
